Miner Warranty Policy
Effective for new purchases from 21 October 2026. This policy does not reduce warranties already agreed for existing purchases or any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
1. Your statutory rights come first
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or replaces rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under South African law. These rights apply independently of the miner's price and any Dawin, supplier or manufacturer warranty.
Where the Consumer Protection Act applies, qualifying unsafe, defective or unsuitable goods may generally be returned within six months after delivery, at the supplier's risk and expense, for repair, replacement or refund at the consumer's direction, subject to the Act. Statutory rights can also apply to used and refurbished goods. Any known defect or specific condition must be disclosed before purchase; describing a miner as used or without supplier warranty does not automatically remove those rights.
A supplier's refusal of a claim, expired manufacturer coverage or high repair or freight costs does not remove Dawin's obligations under applicable law. We will not require you to pay international return freight as a condition of exercising a statutory remedy where the law places that cost on us.
2. Three separate sources of protection
- Statutory rights: rights available under applicable law.
- Dawin's additional commercial warranty: the six-month cover described below, funded by Dawin Crypto Mining.
- Manufacturer or supplier coverage: any separately verified coverage for the specific unit, subject to that provider's terms.
3. Dawin's additional commercial warranty
Miners purchased for R80,000 or more per unit, including VAT, carry Dawin's additional six-month commercial warranty from the date of delivery to the customer. The threshold uses the final miner unit price after discounts and excludes separately charged delivery, installation and accessories. Exactly R80,000 qualifies.
Miners purchased for less than R80,000 per unit do not include an additional Dawin commercial warranty unless expressly stated in the written quote or order. This does not remove statutory rights or any separately verified manufacturer or supplier coverage.
This commercial warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship during normal use within the manufacturer's specifications. It is independent of any remaining manufacturer or supplier warranty. New, used and refurbished miners are assessed under the same price threshold; the supplied condition and any disclosed defects remain relevant.
Dawin pays the cost of authorised warranty repair and any export duties payable for the repair shipment. Power supplies, cables, external cooling equipment and accessories are not covered by this additional commercial warranty unless expressly included in writing. Their statutory protection remains unaffected.
4. Return freight and repair arrangements
Statutory claims: Dawin bears return costs where required by applicable law. The customer-paid freight arrangement below does not restrict statutory remedies.
Claims solely under Dawin's additional commercial warranty: the customer pays the agreed freight to the authorised repair facility and back. Before arranging a chargeable shipment, we provide a written quote identifying the repair destination, both freight legs, insurance and any other charges, and the costs Dawin will cover. We will not book chargeable shipping without your approval. Please contact us before sending equipment.
If repair is uneconomic, we will discuss an appropriate alternative. Cost does not override statutory remedies or allow us to avoid obligations that cannot be excluded. A statutory repair, replacement or refund will be handled as required by law.
5. Exclusions from the additional commercial warranty
The additional commercial warranty does not cover damage caused by:
- Overclocking, unauthorised firmware, modifications or unauthorised repairs.
- Operation outside the manufacturer's electrical, cooling, temperature, humidity or other operating specifications.
- Incorrect installation, incompatible equipment, inadequate ventilation or an unsuitable power supply.
- Lightning, electrical faults, power surges, liquid damage, physical damage or misuse.
We assess the cause of the reported fault and explain any exclusion with the relevant evidence. An alteration or event unrelated to the fault does not automatically invalidate a claim. These exclusions do not limit statutory rights.
Normal wear, changes in mining profitability, coin prices, network difficulty or electricity costs are not covered defects. Mining income is not guaranteed.
6. Manufacturer and supplier warranties
Manufacturer or supplier coverage is separate from Dawin's commercial warranty. Only coverage verified for the particular offer or allocated unit is represented as included. Relevant terms will be stated in the listing or written quote, including the provider, duration and start date where confirmed.
Such coverage may start from the original supplier or manufacturer shipment, may have partly elapsed, and may be restricted to the original purchaser. A generic manufacturer warranty period does not establish fresh coverage for a reseller's unit. Unconfirmed coverage remains pending and is not guaranteed.
A listing marked “no supplier warranty” or “out of supplier warranty” describes that separate coverage only. It does not cancel statutory rights or Dawin's additional commercial warranty when the qualifying price threshold is met. A supplier's claim decision does not determine your statutory rights against Dawin.
7. How to make a claim
Contact dave@dcmining.co.za or +27 83 212 7016 with your order reference, miner serial number, description of the fault, error messages and photographs where available. Stop using equipment if continued use may be unsafe.
We will explain the assessment process, the applicable protection, proposed remedy and any costs requiring your approval. Do not send equipment to an overseas supplier or our business address without return instructions.
8. Optional insurance
You may choose insurance for theft, accidental damage, lightning or other risks. Confirm that the insurer expressly accepts cryptocurrency mining equipment and the intended use. Insurance is optional, depends on the insurer's terms and is not a substitute for statutory rights or included warranty coverage.
9. Change-of-mind returns
Our separate Refund and Return Policy provides a 14-day period after delivery to request a change-of-mind return. This warranty policy does not shorten that period or any statutory return right.
